2007-01-31 Scan Associates Strengthens Presence In Indonesia
JAKARTA, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's leading ICT security solutions provider, SCAN Associates Bhd has boosted its group overseas operations with the signing of a collaboration agreement between its Indonesian subsidiary, PT SCAN Nusantara and PT FINNET Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT TelkomIndonesia.
Under the collaboration, SCAN will jointly work with FINNET to develop the ICT security infrastructure for the provision of managed security services (MSS) or outsourcing services to 130 banking groups in Indonesia.
Speaking at the signing ceremony here yesterday, SCAN's chief technology officer Datuk Dr Norbik Bashah Idris, who is also Chairman of Commissionaire for PT SCAN Nusantara, said the collaboration would strengthen SCAN's presence in the Indonesian market.
He said it reflected the company's expertise andtrustworthiness to provide internationally-recognised security solution such as the MSS.
It was also important for SCAN to partner FINNET in preparation for the
consolidation of the banking industry in Indonesia by the year 2010, he
said
With FINNET's strong presence in the financial and telecommunication
sector by virtue of its relation to PT Telkom and Central Bank of Indonesia,
the collaboration augurs well for both companies as SCAN would be able to
leverage on FINNET's strength while FINNET could rely on SCAN's expertise in
providing quality MSS.
FINNET, a joint-venture between PT Multimedia Nusantara, a subsidiary of
PT Telkom Indonesia and PT Mekar Prana Indah, a related company to Bank
Indonesia, also provides e-payment business services and management of
national payment clearance system.
Under the agreement, SCAN will offer its MSS via its security operation
centre in Jakarta to FINNET's customers and ICT infrastructures and SCAN
will also periodically offer vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and
intrusion detection on those ICT infrastructures to FINNET's customers.
In return, FINNET will assist SCAN in selling, marketing and promoting
SCAN outsourcing services to the Indonesian market especially to more than
1,000 FINNET customers.
At the signing ceremony, SCAN was represented by Norbik and Hazmi
Hussain, President Director of PT SCAN Nusantara while FINNET was
represented by its President Director Budi Siswanto Muljadi and Sales
Manager Martin Gultom.
